Understand the Bosnian Genocide Tour
As you explore the history of Bosnia & Herzegovina, you’ll gain a deep insight into the recent past. Walk through the history of the Bosnian War (1992-95), This all important aspect of your journey will give you a new perspective on the trials faced by the Bosnian Muslims, first hand accounts of what happened, and the lessons we can take from it. The tour brings new light to an important and neglected episode of World history, so we can commemorate the courage of our fellow Muslims.

Shaykh Kamal is known best for his workshop “How to Give Shahadah in 10 Minutes”, a 6-hour workshop designed to empower MSAs and Dawah organizations in the art of Da’wah. His lectures and online videos (targeting contemporary challenges) have also gained popular fame and positive impact among Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Educated at the hands of numerous prominent Islamic scholars from across the world, Shaykh Kamal also has dynamic experience in the secular world.

What will we see in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
Day 1 — Arrival Sarajevo Arrival at Sarajevo airport. Welcome, airport transfer, and check-in. Rest day to settle in, freshen up, and recover from travel. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 2 — Sarajevo Breakfast. Welcome and panoramic tour of Sarajevo’s Old Town (Baščaršija) and its cobblestone streets. Visit the legendary Tunnel of Salvation, a moving walk through wartime history. Afternoon trip to the magical Vrelo Bosne to breathe in fresh mountain air at the source of the Bosna River. Visit local mosques for prayers. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 3 — Sarajevo → Trebević → Srebrenica Breakfast. Morning cable car ride up the breathtaking Trebević Mountain for sweeping views over Sarajevo. Afternoon journey to pay our respects at the deeply moving Srebrenica Memorial. Overnight in Sarajevo area.
Day 4 — Sarajevo → Konjic → Jablanica → Neretva River Breakfast. Morning transfer south, stopping in Konjic and Jablanica. Get your adrenaline pumping with white-water rafting down the stunning Neretva River. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 5 — Mostar → Blagaj → Počitelj → Stolac Breakfast. Guided tour of Mostar’s iconic Old Bridge and bazaar. Continue to Blagaj to visit the historic dervish tekke at the source of the Buna River, then on to the medieval gem of Počitelj and the timeless beauty of Stolac. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 6 — Mostar → Travnik Breakfast. Morning transfer to the charming Ottoman town of Travnik. Explore its historic mosques, fortress, and old bazaar. Overnight in Travnik.
Day 7 — Travnik → Jajce → Sarajevo Breakfast. Morning visit to Jajce, with its famous waterfall and medieval old town. Afternoon transfer back to Sarajevo for final farewells and a closing dinner. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 8 — Sarajevo → Home Early morning transfer to Sarajevo airport for your flight home. Our Bosnian adventure comes to an end with final farewells.
How should I purchase my airline tickets for the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina?
Please book a return ticket to and from Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Arrival ideally midday on August 8th and departure anytime August 15th.
Do I need a visa, before departure, to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina?
No traditional visa needed for your 8-day tour!
Citizens from Canada, the UK, US, and Australia do not need a visa for short stays in Bosnia & Herzegovina of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Passport Requirements: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Bosnia & Herzegovina.

What if I change my mind after I’ve paid?
If you wish to receive a refund for any reason then refunds will only be accepted via email. Please take note of the following dates for refund requests:
Full Refunds are available up until June 30th. Cancellation received via email on or after June 30th 2026 = No Refunds. Refunds will be issued for your payment minus 3% processing fees. (Travel Insurance is highly recommended).
Please ensure you have asked all necessary questions and have all the information you require before making payment.
Are there any special discounts available to students of AlMaghrib Institute?
Unfortunately, there are no additional discounts. We have tried to provide the best balance in terms of price, logistics and comfort for all travellers. Of course, you should expect no less than an excellent program from AlMaghrib Institute. There is an Early Bird Discount available till June 17th 2026.
What will be the role of the AlMaghrib Institute instructors and involvement with the group?
All the instructors will be in charge of all religious affairs for the group and delivering religious based historical programming while in Bosnia & Herzegovina. They will accompany the group and will also provide regular lectures and interaction alongside a local tour guide. Additionally, there will be plenty of time to meet with and interact with instructors during the trip.
Can I add on other places to visit before or after?
There is plenty to see in Bosnia & Herzegovina and the surrounding countries such as Albania, Montenegro , you just need to make sure you are in Sarajevo on August 8th and leaving from Sarajevo on the 15th.
For any extended stays beyond this, please note that you will need to arrange your own hotel stay for additional nights and transport including airport transfers if you decide to come earlier or leave later. For more information please email blessedvoyage@almaghrib.org
Is this tour suitable for families with children?
Yes, this tour is suitable for young children. It is ideal if you have more than one parent or guardian with the children so the entire family can enjoy and make the most out of the trip. Please bring travel strollers if the children need one and plan accordingly. Please note that some activities (like white-water rafting on the Neretva) may have age or safety restrictions , please check with us in advance.
